Speakers

Brian Schwartz  -  Brian is the creator of the award winning 50 Interviews series and has published over 30 titles since 2008. Brian launched KindleExpert.com in 2010 to provide digital conversion and ebook consulting services to other authors and publishers.  Brian is the current president of the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA.)  CIPA is a nonprofit association of independent book publishers, authors, future authors and related publishing service providers and has been providing leadership and guidance to aspiring writers, self-published authors and independent publishers since 1992.

Carson Block – Carson is the President of CoPLA, a library technology consultant, and a frequent speaker at conferences.  Many recent talks have centered on the challenges faced by eMedia in libraries, including a presentation at South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi).  Carson is currently consulting on on several eMedia projects and is the co-lead a 2011 public/academic library eBook and eReader study with Colorado State University.

Monique Sendze – Monique has worked in information technology management in libraries for over thirteen years. In the past three years, as the Associate Director of IT for Douglas County Libraries, Ms. Sendze developed the first library owned ebook platform for the integration and distribution of ebooks to libraries. Previously she worked as the IT manager at the Johnson County Library in Kansas. She has a B.A in English, a M.Ed. in teacher education and a M.Sc. in management information technology. She has contributed to information technology management articles published in various library publications.

Valerie Horton – Valerie is Executive Director of Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC).  Valerie has specialized in management issues for libraries and consortia – planning, hiring, cooperative initiatives, budgeting, and technology.  Recently Valerie has been focusing on physical delivery of library materials. She co-chaired the NISO working group on physical delivery recommended practices, and manages the Moving Mountains Project: a blog for library physical delivery issues.

Kari May - Kari is the Director of the Elbert County Library District, a rural county southeast of metro Denver. As the Director of a small district, Kari wears many hats, and figuring out the best options for eContent for her patrons is one of them. Kari is Past President of CoPLA and has presented at workshops around the state on the topic of building successful community partnerships.
